When it comes to massage guns, most people imagine a bulky massager with oversized heads, a large "gun" shape, and corded power. SKG, previously known for its neck massagers, recently launched a new massage gun. Compared to products from brands like Keep that we tested before, SKG brings a fresh design approach.
"Portability" and "heat therapy" are the key differentiators of SKG's massage gun. In an earlier interview with SKG president Liu Junhong, he mentioned that many professional massage guns on the market are not suitable for untrained ordinary consumers. This product extends that philosophy — it both relaxes muscles after sports and integrates massage properties.
A Massage Gun That Fits in Your Pocket

The exterior packaging clearly shows SKG's collaboration with celebrities. The presence of Wang Yibo on the cover is enough to attract fans. Unlike other fitness-oriented products, the SKG heating massage gun blends more fashion-forward elements.

Inside the box, the design remains compact, consistent with the main unit. Besides the device, you get two massage heads for different areas and techniques. Interestingly, the "mild comfort" head uses a colorful design, and SKG uses different colors to indicate hardness. The two standard round heads represent the softest and hardest in the sequence.

Apart from massage accessories, the SKG heating massage gun also comes with a storage pouch and a charging cable. While many massage guns include carrying cases or bags, they are usually much larger and hardly portable.

The device is 15.7 cm long. From actual photos, its width and height are close to a Kindle — it can fit into a large coat pocket. The design is not traditionally boxy, but features flowing lines, similar to SKG's neck massagers, combining style and function.

In contrast, previous massage guns prioritized functionality over everything else. This design should appeal to female users who dislike bulky, black-and-rugged devices. After testing, jeans pockets or coat pockets easily accommodate the SKG heating massage gun, making it truly portable. In daily use — say, at the office — it doesn't draw much attention.

Under the hood, the SKG heating massage gun uses an SPM motor paired with a 1800mAh battery. It offers three adjustable intensity levels, with a maximum vibration frequency of 3000 percussions per minute. Compared to larger traditional massage guns, the core experience is almost uncompromised, while the small size is a major plus.
The charging port is USB-C, aligning with modern digital devices. After testing, with about 15 minutes of daily use, a full charge lasts around 12 days. Even for heavy users, charging once a week is perfectly acceptable.

However, compared with specialized massage guns, the SKG massage gun's intensity, amplitude, and head contact area are slightly reduced. That reflects its "consumer-oriented" positioning — without expert guidance, improper use of professional massage guns may cause muscle or fascia injury.
Adding Heat Therapy — Emphasizing Massage Features

Thus, the scenarios covered by the SKG heating massage gun are also different. Professional massage guns are built for athletes and serious fitness enthusiasts. This product is aimed at non-professional users — it can serve as a portable relaxation tool during office hours or as an auxiliary tool for casual exercisers and fitness goers.

To make it even more approachable, the product includes intuitive visual cues — dedicated buttons for intensity and heat, plus a colored LED ring that shows the current gear and battery level.

When using a massage gun, avoid joints, injured areas, and direct contact with the head, cervical spine, or chest. The goal is to relax muscle groups like calves and forearms. You need to apply moderate pressure and adjust based on personal sensation.

In my personal experience, at level 1, only light pressure is needed for the forearm, but the calf requires more force. The high-frequency level 3 is better for deep post-workout relaxation — it may be too strong for daily massage. Each session should last about 5~8 minutes. After a run, leg massage notably relieves muscle fatigue.

At work, after a whole morning of typing with bent arms, the massage gun can also relax forearm muscles by moving along the muscle groups. The effect is quite satisfying. Additionally, the bottom of the SKG heating massage gun features a dedicated heating structure — an exclusive design that perfectly matches massage scenarios.

The heat function warms up very quickly — you feel the warmth through the contact surface in 2–3 seconds. For post-workout recovery, heat therapy provides excellent support. Personally, I rarely use the third heating level (53°C), as it feels too hot on brief contact. The three heat levels are 40°C, 48°C, and 53°C.

The heat function automatically turns off after 5 minutes, preventing overheating or affecting other items in your bag. The long-press power on/off and recessed switch design prevents accidental activation. During the testing period, despite carrying the device loosely in pockets or bags, no unintended start occurred.
A Massage Product That’s Easy to Use
All in all, the SKG heating massage gun focuses on massage and relaxation. Its compact size and fashionable design broaden its target audience. Traditional bulky massage guns are hard to integrate into daily home or office life, but this device — just like a neck massager — fits naturally anywhere.
The price differs from the price polarization seen in conventional massage guns. Compared to top-tier professional products, it is very affordable. The new heat therapy function is genuinely practical and aligns perfectly with the massage scenarios the SKG heating massage gun emphasizes.
For office workers who stay in the same position for long hours, or for casual fitness users, this product provides a better fit than professional massage guns designed for athletes. It is a truly "consumer-friendly" product. (First published on TMTpost APP, author: Deng Jianyun, editor: Xiang Ou)
